Most people who visit Maui for the first time dream of coming here again and again! It’s inevitable. If you come to the island once, you’re probably going to start making your own Maui bucket list so that you’ll have a solid reason to revisit this beautiful place!
The ocean breeze, warm weather, and overall beautiful place that is Maui has a certain je ne sais quoi that’s difficult to explain, but we’re still going to try!
Without any further ado, here are the top things you should add to your Maui bucket list and check them off one by one the next time you visit the island.
1. Maui bucket list item #1: beach hopping!
You can’t come to Maui and not go to the beach. That’s nuts!
One of the very best things you can do here on the island is go beach hopping. Whether you go alone or with your friends and family, make sure to pack enough Sunscreen and a bottle of After Browning Lotion to use when your beach hopping day is over. Also, don’t forget to bring along a comfy beach towel that you can lay on as you get a tan.
2. Beach hopping is great, but visiting a black sand beach pales in comparison
As you’re driving on the road to Hana – Hint! Hint! This is another great item to add to your Maui bucket list – you should stop at mile 32, where the Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach is! This black sand beach is so amazing; we’re almost sure you’ll have a hard time saying goodbye when it’s time to leave.
3. Surfing. Snorkeling. Paddleboarding. Water activities in general
A visit to Maui should always include at least one, if not more, water sport activities. You can surf and paddleboard here as well as enjoy a lovely afternoon of snorkeling or scuba diving. Of course, make sure you protect your Maui Babe skin and use enough sunscreen before and after you go into the water.
4. Seeing the Banyan tree should be on your Maui bucket list
The Banyan tree in Lahaina is not just a regular tree. It’s the largest one of its kind in the U.S.! A must-see, especially if you plan an island visit close to the winter Holidays. Nothing says Christmas like the lighting of the famous, giant tree.
5. See what it’s like to use the honor system
Did you know that as you’re driving around the island, you’ll see several unattended fruit stands? Each stand has a dedicated money slot where you can pay for the fruit using Hawaii’s famous honor system. Using the system is something you should add to your list!
6. Relax and enjoy the beauty that the island has to offer
Often, people get so busy doing many other things all the time they forget to sit back and enjoy the paradise that is Maui.
To live an authentic island experience, we recommend grabbing your Amazing Maui Babe towel, getting your sunscreen and a sun hat, and just sitting back comfortably at one of your favorite beaches and absorbing the beauty that the island has to offer.
